Mitts & Trays is one of those cafes that make you feel at home and menu has been very unique, catering to a wide range of audience. For example I never expected to find a butter chicken and pilaf rice at such a cafe. Expect the unexpected if you’ve never been here and be intrigued by their exquisite dishes. You are going to enjoy the cafe for its cozy ambience and can easily spent some quality time in this relaxed environment, unraveling the exciting menu and bakery.
Mitts and Trays is a wide open cafe at Blue Waters Dubai facing the worlds tallest observation wheel, Ain Dubai. The seatings are really comfy and like said they just make you feel at home. We thought the cafe would be less occupied considering they were at Blue waters but they were quite occupied and busy. The menu is electronic, you scan the QR code available on your table. The best part about their electronic menu was every dish had its picture, which made it crystal clear on what to expect.
For drinks we had their Acai shake which was dominated by banana which kind of spoilt the experience as you wanted to taste the Acai more than anything. But on the other hand, the mocktail was lovely, which was the passion fruit mint and ginger ale. Loved every sip of it. Salad was quite filling, you need to have the liking to fennel as the salad is overwhelmed by it, otherwise you might want to try some other salad. The hot starters was just mind blowing which came sizzling to our table. Everything about this one was just perfect, including the thick bed of potata puree which was a great match as you mix it with their special bbq sauce. Ofcourse the wagyu been on top was top notch and the picture says it all.
The mains have been simply brilliant. Starting with the wild mushroom roll sandwich that was creamy on the inside, but the real joy eating this sandwich was the soft homemade brioche bread. The Bolognese was typical which came beautiful on a white plate and lots of pasta to eat. The butter chicken masala was really a surprise on how well they made it here considering it’s not an Indian restaurant. The butter chicken was well balanced with its sweetness and thickness, along with rice and some fancy pickle and vegetable raita. The pickle is worth a mention cause it was really good and so was the decorated white raita, with a dash of red chili powder floating on top. The naan was more in between a pappad and naan, a razer thin naan bread which was unusual.
You cannot leave the restaurant without trying any of their signature desserts. They’ve got plenty of colorful desserts at their counter and they are very different, be it the cheese cakes, milk cakes etc. They look promising and we tried a healthy swiss roll which was filled with yoghurt and topped with granola. Tasted great and anyone can fall in love with this one. Click here to visit their site link
