WAWA dining – Al Barsha Dubai

Wawa Dining

WAWA Dining has been an impressive little restaurant located at Al Barsha. Although the restaurant looks very obvious Japanese from the outside, the menu is actually a Korean infused Japanese restaurant. Anyone who notices the restaurant at Al Barsha, will be curious to know what’s inside. Right from the entry, the restaurant transports you to their little Japanese Korean world. It’s exciting and like a suspense waiting behind their curtains and doors while you enter the restaurant. I thought this was one of the best places to visit in this cold weather of Dubai. The food here has been tantalizing for it’s spices, flavour and hot specialty soups and broth which was a perfect match in this cold weather.

The decor has been impressive, inside and outside. They definitely transport you to their world not just by menu but a complete experience that makes WAWA Dining unique. Cutlery came as wood which sticking to their tradition like how it would be served back home. Also must say, service was really impressive and food came quickly to our table without much waiting. The only quirk was that the restaurant don’t take lunch orders after 02:30pm and seemed closed by 03:00pm. Considering Dubai, I thought lunch time was too short. And later open for a long dinner from 06:00pm to 12:00am.

Mocktails – AED 35 each
Volcano Maki (6pcs) – AED 53
Osaka Beef Gyoza – AED 63 – Minced beef, Mushroom, Chili Teriyaki sauce, Ponzu sauce, Crispy leeks, Chives, Homemade shichimi, Mixed sesame seed powder

We started off their mocktails. I loved the berry mocktail which had a nice fruity flavor to it with the kind of sweetness I enjoy. The volcano Maki, a signature item of WAWA dining was simply delicious and is a must try. You just can’t resist them once you taste them. The beef gyoza was yummy too and we need to give credit for it’s beautiful presentation on the plate.

Bulgogi Miso Ramen – AED 73 – Bulgogi (beef), Homemade Miso broth, Mixed vegetables, Bamboo shoot, Bok choy, Crispy Enoki mushroom, Bean Sprout, Leeks, Onsen tamago, Crispy nori
Mala Hot Pot Noodle – AED 65 – Glass noodles, Beef, Prawn, Calamari, Fish Tofu, Crab ball, Dried red chilies, Spring onion, Coriander, White sesame seed powder

The hot pot glass noodle soup and the hot ramen took us through the main course. I thought ordering both of them was an over kill as we felt like we were having plenty of hot broth. Mind you both of them have been terrific on their own stride. The glass noodle was very unique, not often we see it on the menu. You have one of these hot bowls and you should feel great in the cold weather. They were perfect for sharing and each bowl can easily cater at least 4 serving bowls. You would want to take the help of the staff to serve you these hot bowls across the table who would carefully balance all the contents in it.

Angry Chicken – AED 96 –
Mixed Potatoes, Chilies, Coriander, Cashew nut crumbs, Angry sauce, Black sesame seeds

The angry chicken was an interesting one. It was more like a refined version of the Indian butter chicken but less sweet this time. It was a wonderful dish and wish they had some breads accompanied with this bowl for an awesome dip. They were plenty of baby potatoes though and this dish can easily fill you up. And like in the picture, it was definitely a star on the table.

Dessert – Cheesecake
Dessert – Tiramisu
Green Tea

We ended our meal with a nice fancy Tiramisu and cheese cake. Although both of them tasted great, they just felt served too cold. Looks like they came straight from the fridge. They might want to serve these amazing desserts at a better temperature. Both these desserts were plenty and definitely to share. You would want to end with their green tea and the funny part were those tiny cups which took us many more servings to finish. That was a lot of work for a good cup of green tea.
