Mix of Pasta made from LIVE pasta station

Today we were invited to try out a pocket friendly brunch which serves all day, Oliva by El Greco at Courtyard World Trade Center. It’s not exactly next to the World Trade Center but somewhere on the opposite side of the road behind the classic Crown Plaza hotel. What we liked about eating here was the beauty of the open space in the restaurant which was wide and airy. A Lovely decor and fresh sun light pouring from the high glass walls. Food selection wasn’t plenty even though a buffet, but good enough with a good selection of salads, starters, drinks, mains and dessert. There is a LIVE Pasta station too. No queues at the buffet and a neat place for a chilled ambience to catch up with family or friends.

There was different kind of seating options available. Tables for a large group or a table as small as for just 2. We picked the table for 4 next to the window where we enjoyed our brunch with natural light on our table. The waiters are attentive, they really take good care of everyone here. It’s a brunch with fresh fruit drinks and detox water. You also have unlimited coffee and tea at your disposal. No fizzy drinks such as coke or 7up as part of the buffet. A red mixed fruit drink was my favorite, which I had plenty for my brunch here.

We enjoyed their selection of cheese. The hot starters were just 3 but all of them were impressive, especially the fried fish fingers. The soup of the day was corn soup. There were plenty of interesting items from their salad section with all necessary dressing available on the side.

Mutton Biriyani and sweet & sour Chicken

From their mains the most attractive would be their LIVE pasta station and everyone’s favorite because you pick and choose what you liked and the Chef would make it right in front of you, stirring all of those ingredients in the hot pan. The next big deal would be their curry like the dal makani or paneer tikka masala which was a run away hit. They also had this sweet and sour chicken which another favorite for non-veg diners. There wasn’t any grill available for this brunch though. Mutton Biryani was also available with a typical biriyani curd as accompaniment.

From the desserts corner, they had Indian sweets such as carrot halwa and gulab jamun where the carrot halwa was warm and nice. The kunafa pastry which looked the most attractive from the display didn’t have any filling in it like cheese or cream, it just felt like eating an empty kunafa dough without any stuffing. There were mini Tiramisu, doughnuts, croissants and other freshly baked items from their bakery selection. Click here to visit their website. Click pictures below to see them in full screen view:
