Bombay Bungalow is one of those restaurants where you want to take your guests for it’s lovely ambience and great tasting food with a fusion between indian spices and the modern world. Their menu is ever evolving and every time we make a visit at Bombay Bungalow, they seem to come out with something new to impress us. It’s a nice airy restaurant facing the sea at JBR, lot of natural light pouring into the restaurant from their glass walls. The restaurant is styled in typical India bungalow fashion, it’s a wonderful feeling sitting at the Bungalow and eating with your family and friends. A perfect spot to take any of your guests to make an impression.

Drinks from Left: Mango Lassi(AED 25), Mocktails(underfire & Weight of Gold) AED 22
Complimentary pappads and pickles at Bombay Bungalow

Every diner is served complimentary papads and pickles. Namely achar and chutney which has a variant of flavours running on your taste bud while you try them along with the crispy North Indian papads. They have a decent collection of Mocktails and Lassi. We missed their unique pineapple curry leaf Lassi as they were out of pineapples, so we went for the classic mango lassi which was really good. From the mocktails we tried, the so called weight of gold , a nice one which is mainly made of Passionfruit, Indian spices and fresh coconut water. The touch of spice along with a sweet touch of passion fruit juice makes it a beautiful contrast.

Gauc Pani Poori – AED 35 – Avocado salsa, spicy chili tamarind dressing
Corn & Sprouted mung chat – AED 40
Mustard Chicken – AED 55 – chargrilled, passion fruit chutney

Bombay Bungalow has an amazing array of starters which now includes plenty of seafood collection as part of their new menu. The Pani Poori you get here is very different from the classic one(usually stuffed with potatoes) but this one is mainly stuffed with Avocado salsa along with spicy chili tamarind dressing which makes it different and a unique experience worth a mention. Ofcourse pani puri has never come so elegantly presented. All corn lovers are going to love their signature chaat called the corn and sprout mung chaat. It’s a wholesome plate of healthy ingredients and worth having it as a salad. The mustard chicken was ordered looking at their menu picture of the creamy chickens but I would say it was just another char grilled chicken, the passion fruit chutney made it taste different though. Otherwise if you’ve been eating grilled Indian marinated chickens then you wouldn’t find it very different in taste, although it’s specialty being mustard.

Burrata Butter Chicken – AED 85 – Fenugreek tomato gravy with tandoor chicken tikka
Beef Chili fry – AED 70 – kerala style pan roasted beef, Malabar paratha
Chargrilled whole fish – AED 150 – Malai(Rich, cream non-spicy maarinade)

The main course was exciting as their starters. The Butter chicken was one of a kind with thick Burrata floating on top. It was a little challenging to cut the cheese floating on a butter chicken curry otherwise the butter chicken was pleasingly rich that went wonderful with any Indian bread and the chicken inside the butter chicken was even better. The kerala pan roasted beef is a must try and the malabari paratha that was accompanied was irresistible for it’s thin and flaky texture which made it a great combination for the moderately spiced roast beef. The chargrilled whole fish was fresh and nicely spread on the plate. There are two version of the same fish that you could order, I highly recommend you pick the Achari version(blend of smoked spices, yoghurt). We tried the Malai which is more rich, creamy and non spicy, which I felt went blank for taste. I am sure the fish and taste will be fascinating when we have Indian masala on top of this fresh fish hence try the Achari version if you don’t have kids eating with you when you order the catch of the day!

Mango Kulfi – AED 35
Coconut Rasmali – AED 35 with salted caramel

We then ended our meal with their signature desserts. Although we’ve heard and seen many times a Rasmalai and Kulfi, they were presented very differently at Bombay Bungalow. This is what we love about Bombay Bungalow how food is presented, it’s a work of creativity. You definitely feel the punch of coconut cream in the coconut rasmlai and is a very rich rasmalai than the typical Rasmalai. The Mango Kulfi was so beautiful that we weren’t sure how to start eating it. The kulfi isn’t as cold as I expected. The texture is a bit different but we can still say the Kulfi was enticing as it’s good looks. Click here to visit the official website. Click pictures below to see them in full screen view:
